music

due to 5 to 2 vote I will no longer have music on my blog. I am ok with it and I totally understand why some would not want music on the blog. I know I go to some blogs that have music on them and I dislike the music so some of you might be in that boat with my taste in music. Then there are those time when you are sitting at the computer in enjoying the quite (nap time!!!) and the music pop on, totally annoying. I did not vote because I wanted to see what you all wanted. I put up the voting because I could not make up my mind on what I wanted to do. One reason I was thinking about remove the music was that I want to post videos and I know it is kind of a pain to scroll down to the music to turn it off so we can hear the videos.

Thank you everyone that voted

Earthquake

at 11:42 PDT there was a 5.4 earthqake shook Southern California causing buildings to sway in downtown Los Angeles for several secondsand triggering some precautionary evacuations. No immediate damage was reported. The jolt was felt from Los Angeles to San Diego, and slightly in Las Vegas. The quake initially was estimated at magnitude 5.8 but was revised downward to magnitude-5.4, centered 29 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles near Chino Hills in San Bernardino County. The U.S. Geological Survey estimated the quake was about 8 miles below the earth's surface. When I looked at MSNBC about this it said it that the U.S. Geological Survey’s computers recorded 27 aftershocks by 12:40 p.m. The strongest aftershock was magnitude 3.6.

this was on msnbc and I thought it was interesting

Bahrain

Sam just visited Bahrain (Kingdom of Bahrain, literally Kingdom of the Two Seas). Bahrain is a small island country in the Persian Gulf. Bahrain is approximately four times the size of Washington, DC.

On our first deployment in 2001 our ship went there twice. It is nice place. Sam said it has change a lot in seven years. The base (yes we have a US base there) is nothing like it use to be. Sam said it so much better. He did not really say too much about it just it is so much better there then before. He spent a lot of time at a house of friend of a friend. I am glad he had a good time.

While he was on base. Sam went to the NEX and bought me Microsoft® Office Standard 2007 Military Appreciation Edition since I don't have Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook (that one I don't really care it I have it or not) it on this computer. It has been a little frustrating at time because some the the attachment people e-mail to me I can not look at, plus most of the files I have saved from my old computer are saved as word so I can't open them, which I have always hated since I got this!!! I am so excited to get it!!! Sam mailed it on Thursday (or was it Friday) so hopefully I will get the package soon!

bit

Gilbert just came up to me and showed me his hand and said bit! It looks like Gwen bet him again. But this is the first time Gilbert has come up to tell on his sister. I gave him a kiss on his hand and told Gwen not to bit. Gilbert then told her no bit! Then he said naughty no bit! It was so cute.

On another biting front. . . Gilbert is still biting his nails (even his toe nails)!!!! Does anyone have advice on how to stop this?????

100 days!

woo hoo! we are at 100 (-/+) days until Sam comes home!!!!!!

just incase you wanted to know

I called the loan company today and guess what we owe 5000 more on the SUV then what I can trade it in for! I love it . I have owned my SUV for two years and I have paid under 10,000 for it so far! It just kills me because we pay 500.00 a month for this thing too. Oh and that is not including insurance (which is not that because we both have a clean record and we are military) and gas! I hate loans I hate interest! I wanted a new SUV and my dreams have stomped on. Oh well.

I think I am addicted to buying thing on line. ok let me clarify myself I am addicted to ebay. I like to bid on things. About 95% of the time I don't win it either! This all started three weeks ago when I was trying to buy (win) a new/used lens for my camera. I had to try many time to even win one, which I finally did this week, and because of that I think I have caught a bug, lol. I am so lucky that I do not win over half the things I bid on or we would have no money.

Honda

for some reason the last last week or so I really want to trade in my 2006 Honda Pilot for a 2009 Honda Pilot, lol. I don't know why I suddenly want to upgrade my car (SUV) but I just want to. Then for some reason I went to the Honda website two days ago and then again to day. That has not helpped, it had just made me want to do it more! I want the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with Voice Recognition, Off-Road Tracking and Rearview Camera*, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®†, MP3/auxiliary input jack, tailgate with lift-up glass hatch , and a Tow kit, all of these I do not have on my SUV right now. But because of the stupid gas prices I don't think I can do it. We have a five year loan on this car (the other car is paid off), which we are almost half way (just 30 more payments) there to having it paid off. If I/we get a new car we would be back at square one at paying for it again. That does not make since does it, so I guess I should just stick with my 2006 and be happy with it. But I really want one. Wants and needs are two different things.

Ok I just checked the blue book value on my car (SUV) and it is only 16,905!!!!!! Oh my heck I am almost positive that we owe over that amount. Now tomorrow after Gwenith and Gilbert wake up I will have to check the last statement I got from the loan company. I am so upset I really how I don't owe more then that. My dreams of trading in the Pilot have just now been crushed!

I guess I should be happy I can make the "gas payments" on my SUV that I have right now.

videos for Sam

These videos are mainly for Sam. I have been trying to e-mail them to him since Saturday but I can't because the file is to large so I was thinking today what I could do to get them to him. At first I was going to put them on a CD and mail it to him, but this even I though hey he can check my blog and look at pictures why not put the video on it too so he can view them and so can all my friends.

Gwen and Gilbert both will tell you they are two if you ask them. It is soooo cute! But I could not get Gilbert to say it on camera so you all just get Gwen.

(p.s. scroll down and turn off the music.)

These are from today

I am so proud of them they know almost all their body parts! I have been trying to teach them head, shoulder knees and toes song. I think it is going well.

This is of Gwen saying our dogs names

and just because

good news (for me)

I decide to try to charge my camera (not the d40 one) to see if that is the problem with it. And guess what it is now working!!! I swear it never told me the battery was low. I was last using it at the pool and the next day I tired to use it and it would not work. The screen looked like it had water in it so I assumed it some how got wet the day before. I was very upset at myself for breaking another camera but now a week later it is working and I am soooo happy!

birthday pictures

mom bought Gwenith and Gilbert their favorite thing . . . balloons! They really enjoyed them. after their naps and a change of clothes thet got a scooter from mom. They really like them. But they don't quite get the concept of how to make them go. Which is kind of funny because two months ago Gwen was playing on someone else's and she was able to make it go but now she doesn't. I guess it will be something we will teach them. Mom also got them a cake. That was really good!

I got them this table. I have been looking for a table and chairs for them for a while now but could not find one that I like. I finally found one about two weeks ago and it was on sale for 60.00!! I really like this one because it is green and does not look like it is for a girl or boy but for both!!! Right now it is set up in the kitchen but once we got back into our own house it will be in the play room.

Sam got Gwenith a my little pony and Gilbert a car.

I am (and Sam) giving them more presents on Saturday at their birthday party.

doctor appoinment

We went to the doctor's for Gwen and Gilbert two year check up today. It was suppose to be tomorrow but last night they called and asked us to come into day. I figure since we had nothing big planned for today we could do that for them.

Gwenith is 32 1/4 in long (10 %tile), 24 lb 10 oz (20 %tile). she was born at 5 lb 8 oz and 17 1/2 in.

Gilbert is 32 3/4 in long (10 %tile), 22 lb 8 oz (0 %tile). He was born at 4 lb 15 oz and 18 in.

The doctor was not worried about their weights so I guess I can stop worrying about that too! But usually when they are 2 years old they go onto 2% milk but our doctor wants to keep them on whole milk.

They got hepatitis A shot today. Both cried when they got stuck but that was it. Gilbert got his shot first. When they nurse put on the bandage Gwen got upset and said she wanted a sticker too, lol. Once she got her shot she did not want the bandage on the injection but on her knee. It was so cute.

They are TWO!

I can't believe my babies are two years old today!!! Where has the time gone.

Happy Birthday Gwenith and Gilbert!

(here is a slide show I have done of their frist two years, just a warning it is kind of long)

Happy 4th of July

We did not do much for the 4th. Just stayed at home. I wanted to go to a fireworks show but no one wanted to go with me and I did not want to go by myself with two almost 2 year olds. But my sister and her boys lit fire works in front of the house so we went out to watch them. Gilbert just loved it!! He was so excited. He really, really enjoyed it. I bet he would have loved to see the big ones in the sky. Gwen was not to sure about it until she saw that Gilbert was having such a good time that she deiced that she would too.

camera update!

I finally got my camera back from the shop that was fixing it. It was there for over 5 weeks (forever!)! But luckily it only cost me 183.25 to fix it. What was wrong with it was the aperture control was broken. The aperture is an opening that changes in size to admit more or less light (similar to the iris of an eye). That is why all my pictures were dark. I am so excited to have it back and in time for Gwen and Gilbert's birthday next week! My lens is still broken. I told them not to fix it because it was going to cost over 132.00 just to fix it! Since it would be a refurbish lens and I can buy a refurbish lens cheaper then that I told them not to fix it.

Layered Mexican Casserole

I found this recipe on the Internet a couple of years ago but I can't remember were.

Layered Mexican Casserole

1/2 lb. ground beef
1 can (11 oz.) whole kernel corn, drained
1-1/2 cups Thick 'N Chunky Salsa
1 cup Cottage Cheese
1 container (8 oz.) Sour Cream
5 cups tortilla chips, divided
1-1/2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese, divided

Preheat oven to 350°F. Brown meat in large skillet; drain. Add corn and salsa; mix well. Cook until heated through, stirring occasionally. Set aside. Mix cottage cheese and sour cream.
Layer 2 cups of the chips, 1/2 of the meat mixture, 3/4 cup of the Cheddar cheese and 1/2 of the cottage cheese mixture in 2-quart casserole dish. Repeat layers of chips, meat mixture and cottage cheese mixture.

Bake 35 minutes. Insert remaining chips around edge of casserole; top with remaining 3/4 cup cheddar cheese. Bake an additional 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Job

I some how manage to get a job without even trying to get one, lol!

My mom is a manager of a gas station and is having employee problems. She is working way to many hours because she does not have enough people to work. So I offered to help out a couple of weeks ago because I am worried about her health and yesterday she took me up on my offer. I am only going to work two days a week and only until she gets more employees. So hopefully it is only a couple of weeks, at the most it is only three months. This will be my first job in almost three year! My mom is going to watch Gwenith and Gilbert while I am at work. I am hoping this will help Gwenith not to be so clingy to me too.
