Way Back When-sday

Date: August 5, 2006
Age: Gwenith and Gilbert 4 days shy of 1 month old

I don't remember what was going on in this piture, I just love this picture. It is not posed! I don't know for sure if they knew they other was there, but they always ended up touching somehow.

Go to Twinfatuation for more Way Back When-sdays!

Cat

We have acquire a very cute kitten named Kitty. Gwen and Gilbert just adores her, a little to much, lol. She is probably under a year old. She is all black with a docked tail. Which is funny because all of the animals in this house has docked tails. My brother Josh (he is single) found her a couple days after Christmas on a very busy street. He brought her home and pretty much dump her on my mom and sister to take care of. Last week when we went home to visit she was still there. Gwenith and Gilbert has been watching Aristocats (they are watching it as I type this up), a lot lately so I wanted to see how they would react to a cat so I brought her in to see them. They just loved her and she responded so well with them and the dogs, and vice versa, that I thought hey maybe we could take her home with us. Gwen called Sam (yes she called him, she knows how) and asked him "take kitty home". It was soooo cute. I explained to Sam what was going on and he said it would be ok with him. So home she went with us. Gwen and Gilbert play with her everyday. If they don't know where she is they ask "where did Kitty go?" It is very sweet.

These are of them watching Aristocats last night

The Butler Bag

The Butler hybrid bag, totally rocks! For the first time in my life, I can open my bag up and immediately see what's inside it without digging. There is nothing as irritating as standing in public place and going trough your things in your bag, desperately looking for one specific thing, and guess when will you find it? With a flat bottom, six small and one large hard-sided interior compartments, two exterior pockets on the ends and an interior zipper pocket, its larger capacity is perfect for me and all my stuff! When the bag is fully loaded, I can literally see everything in it, just by looking into the top.

I bought the Butler hybrid bag to replace my Born of necessity diaper bag, that I no longer needed now that Gwenith and Gilbert are potty trained! I loved that bag but it was just too big now. What I love about the Butler hybrid bag is that it will hold all my stuff plus a change of clothes for Gwenith and Gilbert and a few small toys (cars and pony) for Gwen and Gilbert. Notice I have diaper wipes (to clean their faces, lol), a note book, a magazine, sun block, lotion, two sippies I squeezed one into one of the other smaller compartment) keys, camera, make-up, a small address book, two play cell phone (I usually have my cell phone with them too), toys, gum with snacks, another compartment of snacks, my huge wallet, change of underwear for both of them, a couple of plastic bags (you can't see them but they are there), pens and on top of that I put the extra clothes. Oh in the zipper compartment I have their shot records and lose change. Can you believe all of that is in there and it is organized!!!

The butler bag is apparently the world’s first compartmentalized handbag. It was designed by Jen Groover who “was inspired by the common problem of digging through a purse in panic wondering whether something was lost or if she was holding up a line of people while her children were screaming.” She was convinced that a handbag could be functional and fashionable at the same time. Groover’s original idea was to put a dishwasher tray into her diaper bag. It was like magic! Everything had it’s place and was at her fingertips. She realized that this compartmental divider was also the answer to her bag problem.

Butler Bag - The World's 1st Compartmentalized Purse!

The Butler Bag was designed to bring fashion and function together. No more searching or digging, it has an organizer inside with compartments to separate everything. It can hold a small laptop, as well as keys, makeup, books, bottles (sippy), cell phone, Blackberry, iPod, notebook-sized laptops, magazines, maps, etc... The design of the bag is very clean and allow items to stand up, putting every item at your fingertips for easy access.

Which One Do I Choose!?! Click here to find out What kind of Butler Bag Women you are! (trust me this is fun) No matter which Butler Bag you choose you will be satisfied.

octuplets

yes that is EIGHT BABIES!

A woman (who wish asked to remain anonymous) gave birth to eight babies in Southern California (I think it was in LA area) on Monday, the world's second live-born set of octuplets. She had them at about 30 1/2 weeks of pregnancy, 9 weeks early. The combine weight if the babies was about 24 lb!

They had been expecting SEVEN babies but after pulling out the seventh there was an eighth one! The babies, delivered within five minutes, were born Monday morning. They are in "stable condition and they're doing quite well." The hospital says the mother gave birth to six girls and two boys weighing between 1.8 pounds and 3.4 pounds. The mother was also doing well, doctors said. The mother has asked to remain anonymous and asked officials not to release detailed information about her care -- including whether she had been taking fertility drugs.

The first live-born octuplets were born in Houston in 1998, and one baby died about a week later. The surviving siblings — girls Ebuka, Gorom, Chidi, Chima and Echerem, and their brothers Ikem and Jioke — celebrated their 10th birthday in December.

7 random things

I was tagged by Wait Another Year.

I am supposed to name 7 random things about myself but I don't think I am that interesting. Here we go . . .

Seven Random Things About Me

1. I hate, hate, hate, with a passion, doing dishes! I make Sam do the dishes when he is home because I hate it so much. I much rather take out the garbage then do the dishes. But I also hate dishes sitting the sink over night too.

2. I always wanted twins. Let me rephrase that. I always knew that I was going to have twins one day. I think it has a lot to do with me being a twin. When I was younger and I played dolls/house I always had two babies. Of course they were always named Melissa and Michelle.

3. I have a love of lighthouses. My down stairs bathroom is decorated in them. This love did not manifest itself until a couple of years ago, I think about four years ago. I don't know for sure where it came from. When I think of lighthouses I also think of the Lord. "Look to the lighthouse of the Lord. There is no fog so dense, no night so dark, no gale so strong, no mariner so lost but what its beacon light can rescue." I like to think of a lighthouse is lighting a way to come back to my eternal home.

4. I have not talked to my dad in two years. I miss him but it is for the best.

5. I love to play card games on the computer. I love to go MSN games and play hearts and spades. I love those games!! I learned how to play them while playing them online. I have never played them with people sitting across the table from me! I would love to one day.

6. I love to cook! I love to bake!

7. I am shy at first but once I am comfortable I am very outgoing!

back in San Diego

I am going to keep this very short.

After a 13 hour drive I am back here in San Diego. I drove all day yesterday by myself with Gwen and Gilbert. We stopped about every two hours to have potty breaks and to have lunch and dinner. G&G did very well. I am so lucky to have two wonderful children!!!!!!!!!!

Utah

I am in Utah visiting family. I am going to be here for about a week, since Sam is going to VA. I don't know how much I will be on because of this.

It is funny the last three time I have come here I have gotten sick. It really sucks. I think it is because I am going from a nice warm place to a cold one!!

potty training days

I am so proud of Gwen and Gilbert. They don't tell me anymore they need to go potty, they just get up and got the the bathroom by themselves! It is not until I ask them where they are going they tell me they need to go potty.

Gwen discover today that the top of her potty chair fits on the toilet. She now uses Gilbert chair to help her get on the toilet. She is now using that to go potty. Which is just fine with me because that mean I no longer have to dump the pee.

Gilbert discover that the bowl from his potty (they have two different types of potty chairs) fits into Gwen's potty chair top. So he is now using Gwen's potty to sit on the toilet but he is still peeing in the bowl and dumping it. I think the reason he is doing that and Gwen is not is because he loves dumping the pee and Gwen could careless.

I almost forgot to tell all what Gwen and Gilbert does with the bottom half of Gwen's potty. They turned it upside down and used it as a step stool for they can wash their hands. They love to wash their hands!

I am so proud of them but it also makes me sad they are growing up so fast. Where did my babies go!?!?

I am trying to figure out what to do though for our trip to Utah today. Should I put them in diapers for the 9 to 11 hour drive or should I let wear underwear and hope they let me know they need to go and hope there is a restroom near by we can stop at in time for them to go in. If I put them in diapers for them drive is it going to confuse them? I don't know

oh by the way I am going to Utah today (this afternoon) for a week.

somethings just happen

I found out late last week that Sam is going on deployment again this year!!! I am not going to lie this kind of upsets me. We were planing on him being here for a little over a year before the next deployment but it looks like they are going to be gone again this year!

We also found out late last week that Sam has to get some more training so is flying out next week to VA for a whole week!

Life is funny. I guess we will see what all of this brings us.

And no I will will not be moving back home this time around. I will be staying here in San Diego. It is just to hard moving all the time. I think I can handle it this time around now that Gwen and Gilbert are older and I know more people here.

Things are going well

I am so excited the potty training is going so well the last three days. Does anyone have some wood I can knock on? Anyways, Gwen and Gilbert have had no accents since Saturday afternoon. We went to Church on Sunday and they did terrific.

Monday they told me when they needed to go. There was a couple of times they just opened the door to the bathroom and went in there themselves and went, of course I followed them and cheered them on. I had forgotten to change them into diapers for nap time and they both held it the whole time, which was two and half hours! Unfortunately Gilbert wet his bed when he woke up, but Gwen did not and went in the potty when she woke up! Last night they both went to the potty before bath but while they were taking their bath Gilbert told Sam that he had to got poop then climbed out. Sam helped him sit on the toilet and he went!!! I was so proud of him. Isn't it funny what you get proud of when you are a mom and dad, lol. Gwen went poop yesterday to in the potty, but she did not tell me. I could tell by the look on her face that she was about to poop so I hurried her to the potty.

Today was a really good day too. I took them to the commissary (grocery store) today for a little over a hour and half and we had no accident! When I told them it was nap time Gilbert told me he need to go potty. I was tempted to try putting them to bed in underwear but I decided not to. Gwen once again held it the whole time!

I am now down to two packs of diapers left (I buy diapers from COSTCO so they come in packs of four) and hoping they they last a long time. I am really hoping I will never have to buy size 5 diapers. It is kind of funny that Gwen and Gilbert are only in size 4, the picture of the baby on the box is of one just learning to walk, Gwen and Gilbert did that just a little over a year ago. I guess the picture on the box should not surprise me they are only wearing 24 month old (2T)clothes, where most kids their age are wearing 3T or 4T. My kids are small, one day they will catch up!

adventures of potty training

That is right people I have head straight into the lion den, and it has not easy!

I will have to say that Gilbert was probably ready to potty train about year ago but I was ready. I did not want to put in the time and effort it takes and now I regret it. I did not discourage, I just did not encourage it fully. I wanted them to do it together. (So that one day one could not hold it over the other that they did something first) I got Gwen and Gilbert both their own potty chairs. We left them out so they could see what they were and if they wanted to they could use them, which happen once in a blue moon. I had it my head they were going to be potty trained by the time they were two, but that came and went. In my head I said it would be too hard to potty train them when we were living at my mom's house. So when we moved back here my excuse for not encouraging them was I did not want to "push" them during the holidays. Now that think about all the excuses I came up with I have just realized they were all really lame and I should have done it then. But that was then and this is now.

As of January 2 Gwen and Gilbert has been wearing underwear!!! The first two days they wore the underwear just half of the day and they did great no problems. The reason they only wore it for half of the day is that we left the house during the afternoon and I did not think we were going to be able to potty train while we were out. Since this past Sunday January 4th they have been in underwear all the time they have been a wake!! Sunday we had one accident while we were at church so the rest of the time at church they wore pull ups. Monday was a really good day. I had them in a shirt and underwear all day and they had no accidents! In fact I was mowing the lawn. (yes I said I was mowing the lawn on January 4th!!!!! That is so weird to say that) Gwen and Gilbert were outside with me playing. I had the back door opened so they could come and go if they wanted to. Well at one point Gwen went inside, I really did not think that much of it because she had done it a couple of time. A few seconds later I saw Gilbert grabbing himself. I asked him if he needed to go potty. He told me yes, so we were going inside when I saw Gwen and asked if she need to go pee she told me no. I saw that the bathroom door open, which was not open when we went outside. I asked her if she went pee and she told me no. I went into the bathroom helped Gilbert on his potty. I checked Gwen's potty and to my surprise she went potty all by herself!!! I was so proud of her. I gave her tones of hugs and kisses and told her she was really good to go pee by herself.

Monday was a really good day in potty training. Tuesday on the other hand was not! I think they both went through all the underwear they had. Wednesday was another good day. Not as good as Monday but still a very good day. They wore just one pair of underwear all day! Today is another Tuesday already!
