On the 1st day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

A Partridge in a Pear Tree

The partridge in a pear tree is Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, whose birthday we celebrate on December 25, the first day of Christmas. In the song, Christ is symbolically presented as a mother partridge that feigns injury to decoy predators from her helpless nestlings, recalling the expression of Christ's sadness over the fate of Jerusalem: "Jerusalem! Jerusalem! How often would I have sheltered you under my wings, as a hen does her chicks, but you would not have it so . . . ." (Luke 13:34)

The Twelve Days of Christmas

The Twelve Days of Christmas is the period of time that occurs starting with Christmas day and continuing on through to the first week of January. The 12 Days of Christmas does not occur the 12 days prior to Christmas. The period before Christmas is known as Advent.
The 12 days of Christmas is also known as the period of Christmastide. During Christmastide, the way people celebrate the holiday season varies slightly.

The 12 days of Christmas reflects a major component of the Christmas history. As we know Christmas day represents the birth date of Jesus Christ. The 12 days of Christmas represents the time period in which the 3 Kings from the region of Arabia decided to visit the baby Jesus. Traveling from their homeland they traveled to Bethlehem to see the infant. When they arrived, they presented gifts of great value, gold, frankincense and myrrh to Jesus.

I liked this article that explains The Twelve Days of Christmas and they even say that it is probably the most misunderstood by people like me who don't know what they're talking about. I came across this article last year when I was trying to come up with a neat why of sending Christmas presents to Jeremy when he was in Iraq. I never knew that The Twelve DSays of Christmas was after Christmas!

TP

I had nothing really to blog about today until this afternoon when I saw what Gilbert did to the toilet paper!

This happen with me in the bathroom! I was doing my makeup. I knew Gilbert was playing with the toilet paper but he was just making it unroll and rolling it back up. I guess he unrolled it more then realized (or something) and he knew I would no be happy with what he did so he neatly rerolled it.

santa picture

I finally down loaded some pictures from my camera. So I thought I should share that Santa picture with you all that I told you about the other day.

I forgot to tell you all about how Gwen and Gilbert played in the snow! Yes there was snow here in San Diego. Ok so it was not "natural" snow but it was snow and Gilbert was having so much fun picking it up and throwing it.

We also got Gwen and Gilbert faces painted that day. Gwen saw some kids doing it and she wanted it done too. Then when Gilbert saw Gwen getting her face painted he wanted it done too.

Sam

Sam came home yesterday!!!!!!!

But do you know what yesterday was?? It was his 30th birthday!!!! Know what that means? He is as old as me!!! He can no longer tell me I am old now for 6 months!

things I learned today

Here is a list of things I learned today:

1. It does not matter how early I start to get ready for church I am still LATE!
2. Don't eat directly from the apple sauce jar and then expect it to be able to eat out of it a week later. nope, unless you need some penicillin.
3. Grapes and barbecue sauce is not a good combination (Gwen found this out today)
4. That my new flat screen HDTV is not compatible to my only 5 year old DVD play.
5. Gilbert now knows how to turn on the lights in room. (he knew how to do it at my mom's but here the light switch is higher so he needs to climb to get to it)
6. Twins love is strong!!!!!!!

I miss Sam

Have I mention that Sam is out to sea. I am so lonely!! It is so funny that I can be lonely and have two kids in the house with me. But I should add that I only feel lonely when they sleeping. Speaking of sleeping I can't seem to be able to sleep in my bed by myself. I hate going to sleep alone. I hate under ways. But you know what it makes me appreciate Sam more and love him more when he is home! I went on line tonight to look up "mom playgroups" and twin groups. I found a couple of them and emailed. I am really hoping to find some new friends here and get out of the house more, so that when Sam is gone I wont feel so lonely. Ok enough of me feeling sorry for myself.

In other news Gwen, Gilbert and I went to Santa today. They were so excited. While we were in line waiting for Santa all Gwen would do was talk about where Santa was, but once we got up there she would have nothing to do with him. Gilbert on the other hand went right to Santa, sat in his lap, gave him a hug and took picture with him. Poor Gwen she is so funny she wants to be out going (like Gilbert) but she get scared and hides behind me. I am really hoping she will outgrows this.

San Diego Zoo

Two days after Sam came home we went to the San Diego Zoo. This was our second time going there. the first time around Gwenith and Gilbert had an ok time, but this time around they really enjoyed themselves. They loved looking at the animals. They knew what most of them were and told us.

These are of Gwen and Gilbert waving to the birds.

By the Gorilla they have this area of statues that the kids can look at and for people to take pictures. Gwenith and Gilbert were so excited to see the gorillas.

Gwenith and Gilbert enjoyed the fishes. Which I think is funny because I think fishes are boring. But hey what ever makes my kids happy makes me happy. With the fishes were alligators.

My favorite exhibit was the pandas.
This is Gao Gao, is a male giant panda. He was born in the wild. He was rescued in 1993 suffering from injuries which resulted in the loss of nearly two thirds of his left ear.

Bai Yun is a female giant panda. She was the first successful birth of a giant panda at the Wolong Giant Panda Research Center in China. In the spring of 1999, Bai Yun was artificially inseminated with sperm from Shi Shi, a male panda at the zoo at that time. On August 21, 1999, Bai Yun gave birth to Hua Mei, the first giant panda born in the United States to survive to adulthood. Bai Yun has since given birth to three other cubs, Mei Sheng, Su Lin, and new born Zhen Zhen, all via natural mating. Bai Yun and Gao Gao, are considered the most reproductively successful panda parents in captivity in North America.

Zhen Zhen is a female giant panda born to Bai Yun and Gao Gao

Here are some other animals at the zoo

By the end of the afternoon (we were only there for five hours) Gwenith and Gilbert no longer wanted to site in their stroller.

At the monkey exhibit Gilbert meet a boy named Josh they hit it off great. They had the best time looking at the monkeys.
